Hollyhocks have always been one of my favorite flowers, evoking memories of our summers in Marshfield where these flowers grew all around our back door. These hollyhocks now grow in my yard in Walpole and when they bloom I head out with my easel to paint them in the summer. I love the transparency of their petals as they are illuminated by the sun.
